The International Rose Test Garden is located in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. It features 10,000 roses plants from about 650 varieties. Any time is nice, but the blooms peak in the June/July time range. That is the best, most beautiful, time to visit the gardens.
I know that domestic roses are not “nature”, but they do deserve a place here.
In Portland head west on Hwy-26 and follow the signs to the zoo. Stop if you wish, or continue past the zoo to other parts of Washington Park, including the Rose Garden. You can also get to it from downtown Portland, via Vista Ave. BONUS: The Japanese Garden, with the world famous Japanese Maple, is across the street!
