This place used to be amazing. A forest fire burned down the pine tree forest, and then partying students ruined it.
Erosion over thousands of years left these boulders balancing on volcanic tuff columns. The area was known, but to protect the area it was not publicized and not placed on maps. A 2002 forest fire changed that. The rocks became visible, and thus put at risk.
Students partying in the area decided to tip over the boulders and rocks on top of the columns, changing it forever.
This is similar to the destruction of another rock formation on the Oregon Coast.
