In the winter is returns and feasts on the stores. Requiring about 47 calories a day, the stores are typically sufficient for the winter.
In areas frequented by humans, a Canada Jay may fly in and take food out of your hand. They may also help themselves to food at your campsite or picnic area. This earned them the nickname of “camp robber”.
